How does a measurement service work?

During a measurement or floorplan service, a certified appraiser takes measurements of your home with a measuring tool — generally a tape measure or laser measuring device. As they tour the house, they notate the layout of the rooms and other features, like closets, entryways, and pantries. They might draw a rough sketch of the property. Then, the appraiser types up a report and detailed sketch showing the total area and the general layout of the house.
